Most homeowners think about skylights the same way they think about a kitchen remodel or a new bathroom tile. Nice to have. Something to consider someday. But here’s what changes that conversation quickly: standing in a hallway or a master bath that has no windows and realizing the light in that room is never going to improve unless you put it in the roof.

Kitchens are close behind, especially over an island or sink where overhead light matters for task work. A tubular skylight (the smaller-diameter option that runs through a reflective tube in the attic space) works well in kitchens where the roof line doesn’t allow a direct deck-mounted unit.
Hallways. Often overlooked. Long interior hallways in Florida ranch homes are dark corridors by default, and a couple of solar tubes along the run makes the whole house feel more open.
Living rooms can work, but the placement has to account for afternoon sun angles. West-facing skylights in Florida living rooms can be uncomfortable in the late afternoon without automated shading. We plan for this in the design stage.

First, we do a roof and attic assessment to confirm the rafter spacing allows placement where you want it and to check attic depth for the light shaft if needed. Then we pull the permit. Then installation happens: roof opening, flashing integration, unit placement, and interior finishing at the ceiling.
We handle the permit inspection as part of the job. You don’t have to manage that.
