Roofing Estimates – What to Expect

Roofing Estimates

The first step of the roof repair/replacement process is to set up an appointment for a roofing estimate.  At Mark Kaufman Roofing the appointments are made through the office and assigned to an estimator depending on the need of the customer.  On the chosen date and time the estimator will come to your house in a truck with the company logo and a shirt with the logo, so you can feel safe and assured they are from Mark Kaufman Roofing.

What to expect from your roofing estimate for a roof replacement:

When the estimator arrives, he will introduce himself.  At Mark Kaufman Roofing our estimators are Shaun Kolke  and Tyler Grams.

The estimator will then go over your roofing options, such as: type, color, underlayment and accessories.  The estimator is equipped with a tablet that has materials that will help guide you through the process.

Next the estimator will measure your roof, checking for square footage, pitch and slope.  He may also look in your attic depending on its size.

Once he has gathered all his measurements he will put together the information from the roofing estimate and write you a proposal.  He will go through the proposal with you and give you a brief history of the company and our company values.

If at this time you decide to move forward with Mark Kaufman Roofing, the estimator will ask you to sign the proposal and a Notice of Commencement, which needs to be filed in order to apply for permits (if a permit needs to be pulled) and will give you a tentative time your job will be completed.

What to expect from your roofing estimate for a roof repair:

When the estimator arrives, he will introduce himself.  At Mark Kaufman Roofing our estimators are Shaun Kolke and Tyler Grams.

The estimator will ask you to describe the problem in detail, so he can gather as much information as possible.

He will then go on to the roof or in the attic to locate the problem and come up with a viable solution.

The estimator will take a picture of the problem area, this helps the repair crew locate the problem when they come to fix it.

The estimator will look for any other signs of issues: exposed nails, loose shingles/tiles, wet spots or lighting shining through in the attic.

The estimator will then write a proposal based on the information he has gathered through the roofing estimate process.  He will go through the proposal with you and give you a brief history of the company and our company values.

If you decide to proceed with the roof repair or roof replacement, the estimator will ask you to sign the proposal and give you a tentative start date.
